A deadly shooting incident in Midland, Texas, left one person dead and multiple others injured before authorities confirmed that the suspected gunman was found dead following an hours-long standoff with law enforcement.
The violence began early Friday morning when gunfire erupted in southeast Midland.
According to local authorities, the attack resulted in 11 known victims. One person died at the scene, while at least nine others were transported to area hospitals for treatment.
Medical officials later reported that several victims required emergency surgery, while others were treated and released.
The incident concluded after tactical law enforcement teams surrounded a veterinary clinic where the suspect had barricaded himself.
During the emergency, Midland Memorial Hospital implemented lockdown procedures as a precaution while receiving victims from the shooting.
Investigators are continuing to examine the circumstances surrounding the attack, including the suspect’s motives and timeline of events.
Authorities have indicated that there is no longer any threat to the public, though the investigation remains ongoing.
