President Donald Trump confirmed Wednesday that he recently urged Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to hold back on any military actions that could derail ongoing nuclear negotiations with Iran.
Asked by a reporter if he had warned Netanyahu, Trump said, “I’d like to be honest: Yes, I did. I said I don’t think it’s appropriate right now.”

The president emphasized that talks with Tehran are at a critical stage. “We’re very close to a solution now. That could change at any moment. That could change with a phone call,” he said. “Right now, they want to make a deal. We can make a deal and save a lot of lives.”
