Border czar Tom Homan issued a stern warning to cartels on Tuesday not to attack American Border Patrol agents or soldiers defending the southern border. President Donald Trump signed an executive order on his first day in office to classify cartels as “foreign terrorist organizations,” citing their role in bringing lethal narcotics, violent criminals and gangs to the U.S. through their dominance of the southern border. Homan, on “America’s Newsroom,” argued the executive order empowers the U.S. to take decisive action against cartels and that Trump is both willing and able to follow through..

“It gives us a lot of might, a lot of firepower to attack not only their infrastructure and their operations, but attack their money, take their money away. If you take their money away, they can’t bribe officials, they can’t bribe law enforcement,” Homan said. “So President Trump is serious and I agree with him 100% on the terrorist designation because of one reason: because they have killed more Americans than every terrorist organization in the world combined … Just like terrorist organizations, they’ve killed thousands of journalists, politicians, judges, prosecutors. So absolutely, it’s a game changer.”

Border Patrol agents were shot on Jan. 27 in Fronton, Texas, according to Customs and Border Protection. A Texas Department of Public Safety spokesperson confirmed the shots came from cartel members.

The Trump administration on Jan. 26 showcased the arrest of an MS-13 gang member wanted for murder as daily Immigration and Customs Enforcement arrests are far surpassing former President Joe Biden’s administration’s average.

Vicious Venezuelan prison gang Tren de Aragua also gained a foothold in the United States under the Biden administration. The Aurora Police Department charged nine suspected members on Jan. 13 for allegedly being involved in a violent kidnapping and home invasion of a Colorado couple in December.

Host Dana Perino asked Homan “what the cartels are thinking” as the Trump administration cracks down on them, including on fentanyl trafficking.

“Look, I’ve said for months, once we secure this border, which we’re pretty much there now, but once we secure the border and shut down their business, because if they can’t get the drugs across, if they can’t get the sex trafficking women and children across and the alien smuggling, I mean, they’re making more money right now than they’ve ever made,” the border czar said. “That’s why the cartels of Mexico are having a war between themselves, trying to take control of each other’s plazas because there’s so much money involved.”

“Once we secure the border and make it more difficult for them to make money, it’s going to become violent. You’re going to see violence on the border. And that’s unfortunate but we know it’s coming. Border Patrol is prepared. It’s great to have the military on the southern border, they’re prepared. It’d be a bad move on their part to harm any Border Patrol agent or soldier,” he continued. “Because I think President Trump will reply with great force. And I think he has the capability of wiping these cartels off the face of the earth if they harm our soldiers or Border Patrol agents. So word of advice: I wouldn’t go there.”

Mexican President Claudia Sheinbaum on Monday also committed to deploying 10,000 of her country’s National Guard soldiers to America’s southern border to assist in mitigating the flow of drugs and illegal immigration into the U.S.
