More than 60 million American children under 18 have been automatically enrolled in Trump Accounts, the Treasury Department announced Thursday, according to CNBC.

The accounts, launched July 4, are available to children with Social Security numbers. Children born between 2025 and 2028 can qualify for a one-time $1,000 Treasury contribution, but parents must still claim the accounts to receive the money.

Families must use the Trump Accounts app to verify their identity, confirm their relationship to the child, review account details and accept the terms.

New Treasury regulations also allow donated individual stocks to be held in the accounts, potentially encouraging larger private contributions. Tech executive Michael Dell and his wife, Susan, have committed $6.25 billion to provide additional $250 contributions for qualifying children.

Participation had been limited under the previous opt-in system. Commonwealth found only 5% of low- and moderate-income families had opened accounts.

The organization estimates families could leave $2.88 billion in federal seed funding unclaimed.
