President Donald Trump intensified his attacks on Sen. Adam Schiff (D-CA) Sunday, calling for the California Democrat to face prison time over what he claims was mortgage fraud.
In a Truth Social post, Trump accused Schiff of falsifying loan documents and staging a "coup" against his presidency, referencing past comments Schiff made about Trump’s son during the Russia probe.

"Now Shifty should pay the price of prison for a real crime," Trump wrote.
Last week, Trump alleged that Schiff falsely declared a Maryland property as his primary residence to secure a better mortgage rate. Schiff dismissed the accusation as political retaliation, writing on X that it was “only how weak this false allegation turns out to be.”
This is just Donald Trump’s latest attempt at political retaliation against his perceived enemies.

So it is not a surprise, only how weak this false allegation turns out to be.
And much as Trump may hope, this smear will not distract from his Epstein files problem.
According to Newsweek, Schiff has not been formally charged, and legal experts consider the chances of prosecution unlikely at this point.
