Senator Marsha Blackburn has officially announced her candidacy for governor of Tennessee. The Republican lawmaker, currently in her second term in the U.S. Senate, released a video on social media declaring her intent to carry forward conservative leadership in the Volunteer State.
“I’m ready to deliver the kind of conservative leadership that will ensure our state is America’s conservative leader for this generation and the next,” Blackburn said in the video.
Blackburn is widely known as a strong ally of President Donald Trump, sharing his stances on border security, school choice, and other core GOP priorities.
Tennesseans voted for a secure southern border. Under President Trump, we have the most secure border in history.

The race is expected to draw national attention as she faces off against Tennessee Congressman John Rose, who entered the race in March. Outgoing Governor Bill Lee, also a Republican, is stepping down due to term limits.
The GOP primary could become a referendum on Trump-style conservatism, with both candidates vying for the support of Tennessee’s solid Republican base.
