President Donald Trump hailed the indictment as “justice in America,” arguing that Comey epitomized corruption within the FBI. Attorney General Pam Bondi said the case shows “no one is above the law.”
Former FBI Director James Comey has been indicted on two felony counts of lying to Congress and obstructing a congressional proceeding.
"Everyone, especially those in positions of power, will be held to account - no matter their perch."

The charges stem from his 2020 testimony to the Senate Judiciary Committee, where he denied authorizing leaks about FBI investigations into Hillary Clinton’s emails and possible Trump campaign ties to Russia. His statement was contradicted by former Deputy Director Andrew McCabe.

If convicted, Comey could face up to five years in prison. His arraignment is scheduled for October 9 in Virginia. Comey denies the charges, insisting he is innocent and prepared to stand trial.
Critics accuse the administration of weaponizing the Justice Department to punish political opponents.
