Representative Andy Biggs won Arizona's Republican gubernatorial primary, setting up a November contest against Democratic Governor Katie Hobbs in one of the country's key battleground states, according to CNN.
The victory marked another success for President Donald Trump's endorsed candidates and underscored his continued influence within the Republican Party.
Former NFL kicker Jay Feely won the GOP primary in the competitive 1st Congressional District and will face the eventual Democratic nominee.
The report said state Representative Alexander Kolodin captured the Republican nomination for secretary of state after campaigning on election reform proposals. He will challenge incumbent Adrian Fontes in November.
Arizona's congressional races are expected to play a major role in determining control of the U.S. House. According to CNN, the closely watched 6th Congressional District remains one of the most competitive races heading into the general election.
