President Donald Trump defended his policies on foreign students and H-1B visas, rejecting criticism from both domestic and international audiences. In an interview with Fox News’ Laura Ingraham, Trump warned that cutting international student enrollment by half “would destroy America’s entire university and college system.”
Trump said foreign students bring “trillions of dollars” to the U.S. economy and that the country benefits from attracting global talent.
He also defended the H-1B visa program, saying skilled foreign workers are essential for national industries, even as his administration faces lawsuits over new $100,000 visa application fees.
Fox: "The H1B Visa... If you want to raise wages for Americans, you can't flood the country with thousands of foreign workers."

The president’s remarks follow backlash to his plan allowing 600,000 Chinese students into the U.S. after reversing an earlier visa revocation policy.
Critics argue the move contradicts his “America First” stance, while Trump insists it strengthens education and economic competitiveness.
China remains one of the largest sources of international students in the U.S., according to State Department data.
