President Donald Trump will convene a high-level Oval Office meeting Monday evening to assess next steps in his intensifying campaign against Venezuela. Senior national security officials, including Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth, Joint Chiefs Chairman Gen. Dan Caine, and Secretary of State Marco Rubio, are expected to attend.
The meeting comes as the administration ramps up military pressure with expanded strikes on suspected drug-smuggling vessels and a growing U.S. military presence in the Caribbean.

Trump has also warned pilots and criminal networks to stay out of Venezuelan airspace and signaled that land-based anti-drug operations could begin “very soon.”
Trump confirmed he recently spoke with Venezuelan leader Nicolás Maduro but offered no details.
Lawmakers, meanwhile, are raising questions about the legality of the U.S. strikes, especially after CNN reported a follow-up attack on a vessel that left survivors. Members of both parties said such an action could constitute a war crime if verified.
