The U.S. President Donald Trump has suggested that Washington could impose tolls on ships passing through the Strait of Hormuz, framing the idea as part of a post-war strategy, according to reports.
Speaking to reporters, Trump said the United States, as the “winner” of the conflict, should consider charging fees rather than allowing Iran to benefit.

The report said Trump tied the proposal to broader negotiations, insisting that any deal with Tehran must guarantee free and secure oil transit through the strategic waterway. He also reiterated his warning that Iran must reopen the strait or face strikes on key infrastructure.
The Strait of Hormuz remains a critical global energy route, handling about 20 percent of oil and liquefied natural gas flows before the war, according to the report.
Iranian officials, however, have pushed for new arrangements governing the strait and indicated the situation will not revert to pre-war norms, the report added.
