President Donald Trump signed an executive order on Monday aimed at tackling ticket price gouging in the live entertainment industry. The order directs the Federal Trade Commission (FTC) to collaborate with Attorney General Pam Bondi to enforce competition laws and ensure price transparency in ticket sales.

Musician Kid Rock, who attended the signing, spoke about his concerns about ticket prices being inflated by scalpers and bots, which he said makes artists and fans suffer. Trump’s order calls for stricter enforcement of the Better Online Ticket Sales (BOTS) Act, a 2016 law that targets the use of automated bots to bulk-buy tickets for resale at inflated prices. The issue gained significant attention following Taylor Swift’s 2022 Eras Tour, where resale prices reached tens of thousands of dollars.
