President Donald Trump issued a stark warning Tuesday to New York City mayoral candidate Zohran Mamdani, calling the democratic socialist a “communist” and insisting he would “behave” because of White House pressure.
“He needs the money through the White House,” Trump told reporters before a dinner with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu in Washington. “He better behave. Otherwise, he’s going to have big problems.”

Trump slammed Mamdani’s policy platform, accusing him of promoting extremist views. “This country is not ready for that, and it never will be,” he said. The president also criticized Mamdani’s past remarks on Israel, saying the assemblyman had “said some really bad things about Jewish people.”
Mamdani, who won the Democratic nomination in November, has vowed to arrest Netanyahu if he visits New York, citing the ICC’s war crimes warrant. Netanyahu dismissed the threat. Trump added: “I’ll get him out.”
