President Donald Trump is reportedly considering ending U.S. military operations against Iran without securing the reopening of the Strait of Hormuz, a key global oil route.
According to The Wall Street Journal, Trump told aides that reopening the strait could prolong the conflict beyond his preferred timeline.
The report said the administration believes its primary objectives have largely been met, including weakening Iran’s naval and missile capabilities.

Washington is expected to shift toward diplomatic pressure, urging Tehran and allied nations to restore access to the waterway.
The strait, which carries about one-fifth of global oil supply, remains effectively blocked, driving sharp increases in energy prices worldwide. Oil has surged above $110 per barrel, raising inflation concerns.
Meanwhile, fighting continues across the region, with strikes on military and energy infrastructure. Iran has resisted calls to reopen the strait, escalating tensions despite signals that the U.S. may seek to wind down direct conflict.
