The Trump administration has announced a record arms package for Taiwan valued at more than $10 billion, prompting a sharp response from China, according to CBS News and the Associated Press. If approved by Congress, it would be the largest US weapons sale to Taiwan on record.
The package includes HIMARS launchers, ATACMS missiles, self-propelled howitzers, drones, missile systems, military software, and helicopter parts.

Taiwan’s Defense Ministry put the total value at $11.15 billion. The State Department said the sale supports US security interests and helps Taiwan maintain a credible defensive posture.
China’s Foreign Ministry condemned the move, warning it threatens regional stability and violates diplomatic understandings. Beijing reiterated its opposition to any support for Taiwan’s independence.
Under US law, Washington is required to assist Taiwan’s self-defense.
