President Donald Trump spoke separately with Russian President Vladimir Putin and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy as part of a renewed effort to help end the war in Ukraine.
According to the report, Trump's conversation with Putin lasted nearly 90 minutes and focused on finding a path toward a negotiated settlement.
The report said Trump believes there is an urgent need to stop the fighting after months of limited battlefield movement.
Meanwhile, Zelenskyy rejected Russian claims that its forces had captured Kostiantynivka, calling them false.
He also said there remains a genuine opportunity to bring the conflict to an end.
Allied leaders are expected to meet in Turkey to discuss defense commitments and continued support for Ukraine as the war enters its fifth year.
