Trump Raises Tariffs On China To 125%, Announces 90-Day Trade Pause

President Donald Trump announced a dramatic increase in tariffs on Chinese goods, raising the tariff rate to 125%, effective immediately. The move follows ongoing concerns over China's treatment of global markets and trade practices, with Trump stressing that China’s actions have been unsustainable and unacceptable. In a post on Truth Social, the President criticized China for “ripping off” the U.S. and other countries, signaling that such behavior would no longer be tolerated.

Trump also acknowledged that over 75 countries had sought negotiations with the U.S. on issues including trade barriers, currency manipulation, and tariffs, without retaliating. As a result, he authorized a 90-day pause in escalating tariffs, reducing reciprocal tariffs to 10% during this period. The President’s actions underscore his continued hardline stance on trade while offering a temporary reprieve in hopes of securing a broader resolution.
