President Donald Trump is intensifying high-stakes foreign policy efforts as the year ends, using diplomacy and military force to shape conflicts in Ukraine, Gaza, and beyond.
Trump hosted Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky at Mar-a-Lago, saying progress has been made on a revised peace plan to end the war with Russia, though major disagreements remain.
Territorial concessions in eastern Ukraine and long-term security guarantees continue to block a deal. Russian President Vladimir Putin has shown little sign of compromise.

Trump is also pressing Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to advance the next phase of the Gaza ceasefire, which remains fragile without progress on reconstruction and disarming Hamas.
At the same time, Trump has ordered US strikes against ISIS targets in Nigeria and expanded pressure on Venezuela, underscoring a forceful approach as he seeks a defining foreign policy legacy.
