President Donald Trump has denied reports that his administration offered Iran sanctions relief in exchange for concessions on its nuclear program as diplomatic efforts continue to end the seven-month Middle East conflict.
Trump rejected an Axios report claiming he was prepared to ease sanctions and release frozen Iranian assets in return for concrete nuclear commitments. In a Truth Social post, Trump said the report was false and described it as a hoax.
Qatar continues efforts to bring Washington and Tehran closer to an agreement. Qatari Foreign Ministry spokesperson Majed al-Ansari said Doha was working to establish common ground for a deal that could limit the broader consequences of the conflict.
Oil prices moved higher amid the uncertainty. Brent crude rose 1.16% to $103.78 per barrel, while US West Texas Intermediate gained 1.13% to $90.39.
