President Donald Trump renewed his proposal to rename New Mexico “New America,” claiming the change would increase home values and incomes and make elections more honest. He posted the suggestion on Truth Social on Monday.

The proposal follows other reported renaming ideas, including changing Lake Ontario to “Lake America.” Critics have described such moves as political distractions, particularly as midterm elections approach and Republicans seek to strengthen their position.

The White House is also investigating allegations of a pay-to-play scheme involving Ric Grenell and Turhan Mildon. The claims concern an alleged missing $5.6 million from a $17.6 million transfer intended for the Kennedy Center.

Political strategists argue that Trump’s focus on renaming places could invite ridicule rather than help Republican candidates campaigning ahead of the midterms.
