President Donald Trump has rejected a reported Iranian proposal for a seven-day ceasefire and the reopening of the Strait of Hormuz, according to reports cited by The Wall Street Journal.

Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi reportedly conveyed the proposal through Qatari mediators, with Tehran seeking the lifting of a U.S. naval blockade, relief from oil sanctions and the release of $12 billion in frozen assets.

U.S. officials said the administration does not currently intend to lift the naval blockade, while Trump remains skeptical that Iran would meet Washington’s demands. The reported decision comes amid continuing military activity involving Iranian-aligned groups and Israeli forces in the region.

According to the report, Trump has told aides he expects U.S. bombing operations against Iran to resume after the November congressional elections.

Trump has denied that electoral considerations influence his strategy, while U.S. officials continue to emphasize economic and military pressure on Tehran.
