President Donald Trump has revoked former Vice President Kamala Harris’ Secret Service detail, which had been quietly extended by former President Joe Biden before leaving office.
Traditionally, ex-vice presidents receive protection for six months after their term ends. Harris’ detail should have expired on July 21, but Biden extended it to a full year. Trump signed an order Thursday ending her protection effective September 1.

The move comes as Harris prepares to release a memoir about her failed 2024 presidential bid, where she became the first Democrat in two decades to lose the popular vote. In March, Trump also revoked Harris’ security clearance, alongside Hillary Clinton, Alvin Bragg, and Letitia James.
Trump has cut off extended protections for multiple former officials, including Hunter Biden, Anthony Fauci, Alejandro Mayorkas, John Bolton, and Mike Pompeo, as part of his broader effort to restrict taxpayer-funded security for political rivals.
