President Donald Trump said he personally asked FIFA President Gianni Infantino to review the red card issued to Team USA striker Folarin Balogun, resulting in the suspension being overturned.

According to the report, Trump argued the incident was a collision between two athletes rather than a foul deserving a red card.

The report said Balogun had been suspended after being sent off for a challenge on Tarik Muharemovic during a match in Santa Clara, California.

Trump praised Infantino and questioned the referee's decision, insisting the striker had done nothing wrong.

The Royal Belgian Football Association announced it will challenge Balogun's eligibility for the upcoming match against the United States, arguing it has no alternative but to contest FIFA's decision.

According to the report, Trump's intervention has also prompted debate over political involvement in sporting decisions, although the President defended his actions by saying major matches should feature each team's best available players.
