President Donald Trump on Sunday urged House Republicans to vote to release the government’s files on Jeffrey Epstein, reversing his earlier stance that the issue was a Democratic “hoax.”
Writing on Truth Social, Trump said the GOP has “nothing to hide” and insisted Democrats are using the controversy to distract from Republican “successes,” including what he described as a win in the recent shutdown fight.

Trump claimed the Justice Department is examining Epstein’s ties to several prominent Democratic figures, including former President Bill Clinton. He said the House Oversight Committee can access whatever it is “legally entitled to.”

His shift comes as the dispute over the files has fractured the MAGA movement. Several Republicans, including Reps. Marjorie Taylor Greene, Thomas Massie, Nancy Mace, and Lauren Boebert, backed a discharge petition to force the documents’ release.
All House Democrats voted in favor. Trump continues attacking Greene and Massie, calling them “traitors” and urging primary challenges.
