US President Donald Trump said negotiations aimed at ending the war in Ukraine have made significant progress, though major disputes remain unresolved.

Speaking after talks with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky in Florida, Trump said territorial questions and security guarantees continue to be the toughest hurdles.

Zelensky said the two sides have agreed on about 90 percent of a proposed 20-point peace framework. Trump claimed Ukraine security guarantees are nearly finalized but stopped short of committing US troops or logistics.

Territory remains the core sticking point. Russia controls roughly 20 percent of Ukraine, including most of the Donbas region. Trump said proposals to demilitarize parts of eastern Ukraine are still unresolved.

Trump also confirmed a phone call with Russian President Vladimir Putin, saying both leaders were skeptical of a temporary ceasefire.

European leaders, including EU Commission President Ursula von der Leyen, welcomed progress but urged firm security guarantees for Kyiv.
