President Donald Trump blasted Illinois Governor J.B. Pritzker on Truth Social, citing six murders and 20 shootings in Chicago over the weekend. “The people are desperate for me to STOP THE CRIME, something the Democrats aren’t capable of doing. STAY TUNED!!!” Trump wrote.
Pritzker pushed back, telling the Associated Press that Chicago does not need or want the National Guard, which Trump has floated for Democrat-run cities.
Touring revitalized South Side neighborhoods, the Democrat said, “We want to make sure and show off that there’s no emergency happening in Chicago.”

The clash highlights a broader national debate. Trump has already deployed federal forces to Washington, D.C., and Los Angeles, while polls show growing public concern about crime in cities.
Chicago, despite recording 573 homicides in 2024, has seen a 22% decline in violent crime so far this year, according to city data.
I am sounding the alarm on the real crisis we face today.

Donald Trump’s overreach is what our founders warned against – it is unprecedented, unwarranted, and un-American.
