Trump Urges Europe To Cut Russian Oil, Press China On Ukraine War

President Donald Trump pressed European leaders Thursday to halt Russian oil purchases and increase economic pressure on China to help end the war in Ukraine, according to a White House official.

Speaking on a coalition call with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky and leaders from 26 allied nations, Trump emphasized that Europe’s energy imports provide Moscow with billions in revenue. He also urged targeting China, which he accused of indirectly financing Russia’s war effort.

French President Emmanuel Macron confirmed that dozens of nations are prepared to contribute to a peacekeeping force if a ceasefire is reached, but stressed that an “American safety net” will be critical to any security guarantees.

Trump has ruled out U.S. boots on the ground but signaled openness to limited military support such as air defense.

The call comes as negotiations stall, leaving Trump increasingly frustrated with Russian President Vladimir Putin’s lack of progress.
