Trump Visits Federal Reserve Construction Site, Slams $3.1 Billion Project Costs

U.S. President Donald Trump

President Donald Trump announced via Truth Social that he is visiting the Federal Reserve’s ongoing $3.1 billion (and growing) construction project in Washington, D.C., calling attention to what he suggested is excessive government spending.

Joining him are Fed Chair Jerome Powell, Senators Tim Scott and Thom Tillis, OMB Director Russ Vought, Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac Chairman Bill Pulte, and National Capital Planning Commission appointees James Blair and Will Scharf, alongside construction experts.

The visit comes as Trump intensifies scrutiny of federal expenditures, particularly as he campaigns on fiscal restraint and government accountability.

While details of the project remain limited, the president’s high-profile visit suggests growing political focus on the Federal Reserve's capital investments. The inclusion of key Republican lawmakers and appointees underscores the event’s significance within broader conservative efforts to rein in Washington’s expanding footprint — both physical and financial.
