Trump Wants Rupert Murdoch Deposed Within 15 Days

President Donald Trump has asked a federal judge to order Rupert Murdoch to give a deposition within 15 days in his defamation lawsuit against The Wall Street Journal. The request, filed Monday in Miami, cites Murdoch’s advanced age of 94 as grounds for urgency.

Trump sued the Journal, its parent company Dow Jones, and several reporters on July 18 over a July 17 article that linked him to a 2003 birthday greeting sent to Jeffrey Epstein. The report alleged the greeting included a sexually suggestive drawing and a reference to shared secrets between Trump and the late financier.

Trump has denied the claims and said the story is false and defamatory. His legal team argues Murdoch’s testimony is essential to establish editorial responsibility.

Dow Jones has said it stands by the Journal’s reporting and intends to fight the lawsuit vigorously. The company has not yet commented on the deposition request.
