Army Secretary Dan Driscoll is in Abu Dhabi for direct talks with Russian officials as the Trump administration pushes aggressively for a Ukraine ceasefire.

U.S. officials confirmed Driscoll met Russian envoys for several hours Monday and will continue negotiations Tuesday.
The meetings come after high-level talks in Geneva involving Driscoll, Secretary of State Marco Rubio, Trump envoy Steve Witkoff, Jared Kushner, and Ukrainian and European diplomats.

Washington is working from a revised version of a 28-point peace plan that has drawn criticism for requiring major concessions from Kyiv, including surrendering the entire Donetsk region and halting its NATO ambitions.
Ukrainian Ambassador Olga Stefanishyna said a related security document outlines U.S. “security assurances” similar to NATO’s Article 5.
Trump wants a deal by Thanksgiving, though U.S. officials say the deadline is flexible. One official warned Putin believes he will take Donetsk regardless, citing Russia’s advances near Pokrovsk.
