Katie Zacharia made her first appearance at the White House press briefing podium on Tuesday after being appointed press secretary by President Donald Trump.

In a brief opening statement, Zacharia said she was excited to join the administration and had wanted to work for Trump for a long time. She praised the administration’s economic record and highlighted attendance at recent campaign rallies before taking a limited number of questions, including several from conservative media outlets.

Zacharia also confirmed that the White House had requested the resignation of Kimberly Guilfoyle as U.S. ambassador to Greece.

💡
Appointed on October 9, Zacharia fills the vacancy left by Karoline Leavitt, who stepped down in August, citing family commitments. She previously worked as a media adviser for Trump Media & Technology Group and briefly served in a public affairs role at the Department of Homeland Security.

Her debut comes amid scrutiny over her past online commentary and questions about her professional credentials.
