President Asif Ali Zardari condemned the “terrorist act,” while Defense Minister Khawaja Asif called it a “wake-up call,” warning that Pakistan remains “in a state of war.”
The attack follows months of rising militant violence since the Afghan Taliban’s takeover in 2021 and comes just a day after militants targeted a cadet college in northwestern Pakistan.
Relations between Islamabad and Kabul have deteriorated sharply, with recent ceasefire talks collapsing in Istanbul last week amid disputes over cross-border militant activity.
