Ukrainian officials offered the United States advanced anti drone technology months before the current conflict with Iran, but the proposal was dismissed by the Trump administration at the time, according to Axios.
During an August meeting at the White House, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky presented a plan to help counter Iranian Shahed drones.
Ukrainian officials demonstrated interceptor drones and proposed building regional “drone defense hubs” near U.S. bases in the Middle East. The presentation warned that Iran was rapidly improving its drone capabilities.

The U.S. initially declined the offer. Officials now say that decision may have been a major tactical mistake after Iranian drone strikes killed seven American service members and forced costly interception efforts.
Last week, the United States reportedly requested Ukraine’s help with counter drone systems. Analysts note that Ukraine has gained extensive experience combating Iranian style drones during Russia’s invasion. U.S. officials still maintain that American defenses have intercepted most Iranian missile and drone attacks.
