The United States is preparing to deploy about 1,000 troops from the 82nd Airborne Division to the Middle East as tensions with Iran continue, according to CNN.

The deployment includes a battalion from the division’s Immediate Response Force, designed for rapid action in crisis situations.

Officials said written orders were approved this week, with initial troops expected to arrive within days. The unit will serve as a ready force in the region if conditions escalate.

The move comes as President Donald Trump signals progress in negotiations with Iran, claiming both sides are discussing terms to end the conflict. Iranian sources have acknowledged limited outreach.

At the same time, the Pentagon is increasing its military footprint. Additional Marine Expeditionary Units and naval groups, each with thousands of personnel and aviation support, are also being deployed.

Officials say the buildup provides flexibility, allowing the U.S. to respond quickly while diplomatic efforts continue.
