President Donald Trump on Friday announced a major partnership between U.S. Steel and Japan’s Nippon Steel that will keep the American steel giant headquartered in Pittsburgh.

“This will be a planned partnership… which will create at least 70,000 jobs and add $14 billion to the U.S. economy,” Trump wrote on Truth Social. He said most of the investment would be made over the next 14 months, calling it the largest in Pennsylvania’s history.

Trump emphasized the deal as a victory for American manufacturing and a direct result of his tariff policies. “Steel will once again be, forever, made in America,” he said.
