British police arrested former UK ambassador to the United States Peter Mandelson on suspicion of misconduct in public office, marking a major escalation in the widening Jeffrey Epstein investigation.
London’s Metropolitan Police said Mandelson, 72, was detained at a Camden address and taken in for questioning following search warrants executed in Camden and Wiltshire.

Investigators are examining allegations that Mandelson shared market-sensitive government information with Jeffrey Epstein while serving as the UK’s business secretary.
The arrest follows recent disclosures from newly released Epstein files, which prompted Mandelson to resign from the Labour Party and step down from the House of Lords earlier this month.
He was dismissed as ambassador in September by Prime Minister Keir Starmer after earlier documents revealed a close personal relationship with Epstein.
The case has intensified political pressure on Starmer, raising questions about vetting and accountability at the highest levels of the British government.
