Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky is facing rare public protests after removing Defense Minister Mykhaylo Fedorov, despite recent military gains against Russia, reported by CNN.

According to the report, Zelensky acknowledged the protests and said Fedorov would remain part of his team in another role, though no final decision has been announced.

The report said Fedorov earned praise for expanding Ukraine's drone program, improving troop benefits and accelerating military reforms. His removal has alarmed some Western allies, who viewed him as a key figure in anti-corruption efforts and defense modernization.

Fedorov publicly accused military leadership of resisting reform and making decisions based on loyalty rather than results. Hundreds protested in Kyiv, while senior military officers also criticized the move, highlighting growing divisions within Ukraine's wartime leadership as Russian attacks continue.
