Ukraine Pushes Back As U.S. Peace Plan Demands 'Major Concessions To Russia'

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said Friday that the U.S. is pressing Kyiv to accept President Donald Trump’s 28-point peace plan, which would force Ukraine to surrender eastern territory, limit its military, and abandon its bid to join NATO.

Zelenskyy warned the proposal leaves Ukraine facing a stark choice between “losing dignity” or risking the loss of a key American partner.

Zelenskyy said he discussed the plan with leaders from France, the U.K., and Germany, who praised U.S. efforts but insisted any agreement must protect Ukraine’s sovereignty.

European officials told CBS News they were not consulted on the plan’s details.

Trump said he expects Ukraine’s response by Thanksgiving but is open to extending the deadline.

Zelenskyy said Kyiv will work with Washington to secure a “real and dignified peace” and plans further talks with Trump. He stressed that only terms that ensure lasting security and independence are acceptable.
