Ukraine’s Defense Ministry says Russian forces have lost access to Starlink satellite terminals in Ukraine, a move officials claim has severely disrupted Moscow’s battlefield communications.

Ukrainian officials said the cutoff followed coordination with SpaceX to enforce a whitelist of approved Starlink terminals, according to CNN.

Systems used by Russian forces were blocked, while verified Ukrainian terminals remained active. Under US sanctions, Starlink cannot be sold to or legally used by Russia.

Ukraine has accused Russian forces of exploiting Starlink for military operations, including mounting terminals on attack drones to evade electronic jamming. Starlink has been critical to Ukraine’s own military, healthcare, and public infrastructure since the war began.

SpaceX founder Elon Musk confirmed efforts to stop unauthorized use and urged users in Ukraine to register their terminals.

Russian officials have not commented, though pro-Kremlin military bloggers acknowledged communication disruptions on the front lines.
