Ukraine Signals Progress On Peace Plan As Talks Accelerate

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said a “very workable” peace proposal negotiated with the United States could be finalized within days and presented to Russia, signaling renewed momentum in efforts to end the war.

Zelenskyy cautioned that key disputes remain unresolved, particularly over Ukrainian territory occupied by Russian forces. Kyiv has ruled out recognizing Russian control over any part of the Donbas or Crimea.

He said US officials are exploring compromise ideas, including a proposed free economic zone in eastern Ukraine that would remain outside Russian control.

President Donald Trump said the US-led initiative is closer to a settlement than at any point since the conflict began. American officials said Ukraine and European allies agree on roughly 90 percent of the draft framework.

The Kremlin said it wants a permanent peace deal, not a temporary ceasefire. Zelenskyy warned that if talks fail, Ukraine will seek tougher sanctions on Moscow and increased Western military support.
