The UN Security Council on Monday approved a U.S.-drafted resolution backing President Donald Trump’s 20-point Gaza plan. The measure passed 13–0, with Russia and China abstaining. It is designed to move beyond the fragile truce in Gaza toward long-term stability, reconstruction and security reform.

The resolution authorizes the creation of a “Board of Peace,” chaired by President Trump, and a temporary International Stabilization Force made up of peacekeepers from several nations, including Muslim-majority countries.
U.S. officials said the force will help secure Gaza, demilitarize extremist groups and escort humanitarian aid.
The plan also outlines a future handover to the Palestinian Authority, though critics say the resolution lacks timelines or clear implementation steps. It references eventual Palestinian statehood but offers no deadline.

Hamas has condemned the measure, calling it foreign “guardianship” over Gaza. Israel maintains that Gaza must be fully demilitarized and Hamas disarmed.
