President Donald Trump announced what he described as a historic agreement to disarm Hamas and other armed groups in Gaza, though officials cautioned that the deal remains dependent on several conditions, according to CNN.
The report said Hamas has agreed in principle to surrender its weapons to the Board of Peace, but only if Israel fulfills its commitments under the October ceasefire agreement.
Those conditions include ending military operations, withdrawing forces to the Yellow Line, allowing increased humanitarian aid and permitting a new Palestinian technocratic administration to assume control in Gaza.
The report said the agreement would be implemented in phases, with an International Stabilization Force taking over security responsibilities as Israeli forces withdraw.
Israeli officials have not endorsed the proposal, and some members of Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's government publicly rejected the negotiations, while US officials acknowledged implementation will require further verification and negotiations.
