The USS Abraham Lincoln has arrived in Thailand after more than eight months without a port call, following an extended combat deployment in the Middle East. The 100,000-ton aircraft carrier docked at Laem Chabang near Pattaya on Wednesday.
The deployment has drawn scrutiny over crew welfare. Sen. Richard Blumenthal raised concerns about reported shortages, water and plumbing problems, mental health issues, safety concerns and disrupted mail service.
Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth disputed the characterization of conditions aboard the ship, while President Donald Trump said the deployment was “not nearly long enough.”
The Pentagon deployed the USS George Washington to replace the Lincoln in the Middle East. Two other US warships also arrived in Thailand, as local officials welcomed the visit for its potential economic benefits.
