Vice President JD Vance said he hopes Elon Musk can reconcile with President Donald Trump, calling their public fallout “bad for the country.”
Speaking on “This Past Weekend” with Theo Von, Vance said Musk’s criticism of the Trump-backed “one big beautiful bill” was a mistake.
“I hope that eventually Elon comes back into the fold,” Vance said. “He’s gone so nuclear, but I hope it is possible.”
Vance defended the bill, which passed the House, calling it beneficial for Americans. He acknowledged Musk’s frustrations with politics and noted the billionaire has faced setbacks since becoming more politically active.
“Elon’s new to politics. He’s suffered a lot,” Vance said. “But it’s a huge mistake for the world’s wealthiest man to be at war with the world’s most powerful man.”
Vance added, “If Elon chilled out a little bit, everything would be fine.”
