US Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent described high-level trade negotiations between Washington and Beijing as “very successful”, highlighting key breakthroughs ahead of a planned presidential summit.
Speaking after extensive discussions in New York with Chinese Vice Premier He Lifeng, Bessent announced that both economic superpowers have agreed to operationalize new bilateral initiatives, including a dedicated "US-China AI dialogue".
The proposed framework features a strategic notification mechanism designed to manage national security risks and critical incidents surrounding artificial intelligence. Officials also advanced efforts on trade barriers and non-sensitive goods, easing market tensions.
