Emergency preparations rushed forward as forecasters warned of potential flash floods and mudslides across the region. Meanwhile, thousands of miles away in the Pacific, Hurricane Nolo continued tracking further away from the Hawaiian Islands.
Despite expanding its distance from the archipelago, the powerful storm kept parts of Hawaii under active weather advisories, leaving vulnerable communities bracing for lingering heavy rainfall, high surf, and gusty winds.
