A massive glacial collapse along the Nepal-China border triggered catastrophic flash floods and mudslides across the Himalayan region, leaving at least 168 people dead and over 1,300 missing.
The disaster struck the Bhote Koshi and Trishuli river systems after an ice-rock avalanche blocked the Lhende River, unleashing a debris-laden torrent that swept away entire villages, critical infrastructure, and market settlements in just 15 minutes.
