A Blue Origin rocket exploded during a pre-launch test at Florida’s Cape Canaveral Space Force Station, destroying the spacecraft and creating a massive fireball that shook nearby homes.
According to company officials, no injuries were reported and all personnel were safely accounted for.
The rocket involved was Blue Origin’s New Glenn vehicle, named after astronaut John Glenn. The mission was scheduled to launch internet satellites next week, but the test ended abruptly when the rocket detonated on the launch pad.
All personnel are accounted for and safe. It’s too early to know the root cause but we’re already working to find it. Very rough day, but we’ll rebuild whatever needs rebuilding and get back to flying. It’s worth it.

Blue Origin founder Jeff Bezos said on X that it was too early to determine the cause of the explosion. He added that the company had already begun investigating the incident and would rebuild damaged infrastructure before resuming flights.
The report said the accident marks a significant setback for Blue Origin’s space ambitions. Meanwhile, Elon Musk expressed support for Bezos, noting that SpaceX has also experienced major rocket test failures during development.
