The suspected shooter, identified as a woman, was found dead at the school from a self-inflicted injury. Officials have not released names or confirmed how many victims were children.
About 25 people were treated at a medical center, with two airlifted in critical condition. Superintendent Ken Floyd of the British Columbia Royal Canadian Mounted Police said investigators are still working to determine a motive.
Mass shootings are rare in Canada, which has stricter gun laws than the United States. Prime Minister Mark Carney and local leaders offered condolences as the small community mourns.
