President Donald Trump welcomed Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy to the White House on Tuesday for talks focused on defence cooperation and efforts to end the war with Russia.

According to the report, the meeting took place ahead of the funeral of U.S. Senator Lindsey Graham, a long-time supporter of Ukraine, who died earlier this month.

The report said Zelenskyy sought additional U.S. support for Ukraine's air defence capabilities, including discussions on drone cooperation and the possibility of securing a licence to produce Patriot missile interceptors.

The visit also came after a Pentagon letter indicated that the remaining $400 million in previously authorised U.S. military assistance would not be fully disbursed until the 2029 fiscal year.

Following the White House meeting, Zelenskyy is scheduled to meet members of the U.S. Senate at the Capitol to discuss continued strategic cooperation.

U.S. officials said President Trump intends to emphasise diplomatic efforts, stating that the time has come to pursue an end to the conflict.

According to the report, strengthening Ukraine's air defence systems and expanding long-term security cooperation with the United States remain the Ukrainian government's top priorities as the war continues.
